Abstract

The complex endocrine system has a strong influence on the development and functioning of the vocal apparatus. This article reviews the effects that this influence has on the sung voice and provides an up-to-date scientific context for an in-depth understanding of the major endocrine disorders with a major impact on the health of the voice. The article provides an accessible interdisciplinary approach to the most important stages of human voice development from the perspective of contemporary voice pedagogy.
