Umor și ironie în strigătura românească
Humor and irony in the Romanian shout
Abstract
Jokes are a mixture of reality, perception of everyday life and the personality of the creator or the transmitter of the witty word. The rhythmic shout in verse, specific to Romanian folklore, is the most concise of the lyrical species, due to its rhyme and satirical intention. We can place it in the epigram family, we can even call it a rural epigram, in the context of its origin and rural existence. The urban culture took over the form, bringing some innovations in terms of vocabulary and in the way it spread in various contexts. Nowadays, the signs of the rural rhythmic shouting are recognizable in the verbal manifestations of sports competitions (especially in stadiums), but also in the socio-political context. Although it has not received the same scholarly interest as other literary species, the rhythmic shout in verse has its place in our popular culture, in our literature and in society. It brings into contemporaneity, from ancient times, a philosophy of life, full of comedy and sarcasm.
