Influenţa ideologiei marxiste asupra concepţiei lingvistice a lui Iorgu Iordan şi a lui Al. Rosetti (cu referire la două probleme)

Abstract

We aim to refer here to only a few ideas of the two important Romanian linguists, Iorgu Iordan and Al. Rosetti,
with respect to two aspects: the issue of motivation (and that of arbitrariness) of the linguistic sign, in Al. Rosetti’s case, respectively the issue of neologisms, mainly that of terminology, in Iordan’s case. We will thus be interested in the way the two linguists reconsidered their initial opinions “in the light of the Marxist-Leninist science on language”, following the imposing of the Marxist ideology in the Romanian linguistics as a result of Stalin’s intervention in 1950. With this end in view, we examined some of the papers of the two scholars, written before and after 1950.
