Abstract

The year 1953 marked the end of Stalin’s era, but the damage had been done. Once set in motion, the great
mechanism could not be stopped. Romanian literature remains subserviant to socio-political orders. Poetry manages an attack on its own nature and changes into the nuanced eco of the totalitarian discourse, with the appearance of spontaneous metaphore. Poets orderly enlist into units of word labourers, and the argumentations of the realist-socialist critique engage in full-scale crusades, led in the name of a declared and never conquered happiness.
