Sărmanul Dionis. Raționalismul și fantasticul lecturii
Abstract
The canonical text of Romanian fantastic literature, Sărmanul Dionis, contains, either in embryo or skillfully developed, a varied symbolism associated with the act of reading. Esoteric reading intertwines with historically
inaccurate reading, and the image of future or past worlds encapsulated within the pages of a book is brought to the attention of the Junimist interpretative community, outlining various profiles of readers. Part of a broader study focused on the multiple aspects of reading in and of this text, the present article investigates only one aspect: specifically, the public reading of this work during a Junimist meeting, as described by G. Panu. G. Panu's fictional perspective illustrates the limitations of realist reading habits and the strong rejection of the intrusion of fantastic literature.
