The rate at which the wear
process occurs has a decisive role on the machining costs. Many of the parameters
that determine production costs, such as machining time, part failure rate and tool
replacement interval, are affected by how well the cutting tool is working. Damage
to the cutting tool due its wear occurs to the cutting edge surfaces of the tool that
come into contact with the workpiece and with the chips. With the experimental data
from this study, groups of values such as feed, depth, speed and durability
corresponding to a certain practical permissible of wear cutting tool value were
determined, in order to be able to optimize in practice the values of the cutting
regime parameters so as to ensure a imposed durability and wear of cutting tool.
2025-09-17T13:36:47+03:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://gup.ugal.ro/ugaljournals/index.php/im/article/view/9209 The COST OF QUALITY 2025-09-17T13:57:04+03:00 Daniela Ghelase Mioara.Voncila@ugal.ro Luiza Daschievici Mioara.Voncila@ugal.ro
The totality of the expenses incurred for carrying out an action in an enterprise
represents its cost. The cost provides numerical information, having the same unit of
measure, regardless of the nature of the action. With the help of this information, a
comparative analysis can be made of the various actions carried out, establishing
the efficiency of one in relation to another, the validity of the action. The economic
aspect of any business is necessary and mandatory, so that any manager can make
important decisions in the management of the company when the up-to-date
situation of quality costs is known.
2025-09-17T13:41:11+03:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://gup.ugal.ro/ugaljournals/index.php/im/article/view/9210 PRECURSORS OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT 2025-09-17T13:57:05+03:00 Daniela Ghelase Mioara.Voncila@ugal.ro Luiza Daschievici Mioara.Voncila@ugal.ro
After World War II, two major forces emerged that had a profound impact on quality. The first was the Japanese quality revolution and the second was the awareness of the importance of product quality in the mind of the customer. The promoters of that quality revolution in Japan were the Americans. The paper presents the contributions of the most important precursors of quality management.
2025-09-17T13:44:57+03:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://gup.ugal.ro/ugaljournals/index.php/im/article/view/9211 METHODS FOR ENHANCING THE BUILDINGS BEHAVIOUR AT SEISMIC MOTIONS 2025-09-17T13:57:05+03:00 Fănel SCHEAUA Mioara.Voncila@ugal.ro
Improving a building's behavior during seismic events represents a critical aspect of structural engineering, aiming to reduce damage, ensure safety and preserve functionality for the buildings. Several methods and technologies have been developed over the years to improve a building's
performance in seismic motions. These methods can be categorized into design strategies, damping systems, base isolation and retrofit techniques if they are applied to old buildings. A numerical analysis is performed to highlight the isolation characteristics of buildings and how the response is modified in the event of seismic motion. The results are presented in terms of displacements, velocity, vibration period and energy which are decisive
for defining the building's seismic behavior.
2025-09-17T13:50:43+03:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://gup.ugal.ro/ugaljournals/index.php/im/article/view/9212 OPERATIONAL ASPECTS IN VERTICAL AXIS WIND TURBINES 2025-09-17T13:57:05+03:00 Fănel SCHEAUA Mioara.Voncila@ugal.ro
The need for energy is growing and wind is a resource that has seen increased use worldwide in recent years, especially since it allows energy production without major environmental impacts. Vertical axis wind turbines represent a versatile and innovative technology for harnessing wind energy. While they are not yet as commonly used for large-scale wind farms as horizontal-axis turbines, they offer unique advantages in urban environments, low-wind conditions, and specific applications where wind
direction varies. As technology improves, VAWTs may become a more prominent part of the global renewable energy mix.
2025-09-17T13:55:51+03:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement##
