The Celtic paradigm and Modern Irish Writing
Synopsis
The book attempts to re-arrange the ‘puzzle’ of the Celtic world with a view of assessing its impact on modern Irish writing. The focus is laid on the Irish mythological heritage and the degree to which modern and contemporary Irish writes (e.g. William Butler Yeats, Augusta Gregory, James Joyce, Paul Vincent Carol, Flam O’Brien, Seamus Heaney, Brian Friel, Eavan Boland, Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill) engage with it, either through the recovery, or through the interrogation of its themes, heroic figures or mystic motifs.
