Salman Rushdie’s women characters: Literary politics and poetics
Synopsis
The present paper proposes an analysis of Salman Rushdie’s women characters in three novels: Midnight’s Children, Shame and The Moor’s Last Sigh. The reason for examining these particular novels has to do both with the chronology of their appearance on the market and with the fact that they have similar themes and motifs, whose metamorphoses can be traced along the lines of literary politics and poetics.
