Abstract

A modal analysis of the ships’ structures is requested at any design step to check the possibility of local resonance occurring with onboard systems and equipment. The main study objective is to perform a local modal analysis of the amishships cargo hold structure of a 100449 tdw bulk carrier. The numerical modal analysis is done by 3D-FEM models, and besides the cargo mass, the vibration hydrodynamic added masses are included. Different elements' mesh size selection is done, and the modal solution conver gence analysis is approached.
