A family of boyards from the north of Covurlui County
Abstract
The paper analyses the first documents about the landlords that lived in the area of Covurlui. The first family of boyars was that of the Cernats; they were the owners of more than 30 villages and of vast territories in the Northern Covurlui. During the time of Stephen the Great (1457-1504), Steful Cernat was one of the members in the council of the woivod. He bought several more villages, thus increasing his feudal domination.
