Abstract

Regiment 8 Cavalry, founded in 1872, had its headquarters at first in the northern area of Moldavia, in Roman. After half a century of glorious activity, this regiment is disbanded on July 1, 1923. It is re-established on October 1, 1931, by bringing together more military units, and its headquarters is set in the City of Galati. The first commander of the regiment was Lieutenant Colonel Marin Manafu. He had the mission to organize the new military unit, which was to become one of the best cavalry regiments in the country.
