Teologul Ioan Gh. Savin și preotul Petru Gh. Savin în închisorile comuniste
Abstract
The paper relies on archival documents with a view to outline the way in which brothers Ioan and Petru Savin were arrested and sentenced by the communist regime. Ioan and Petru Savin were significant figures of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the former half of the 20th century. Their activity has been covered in various research studies, but the episode of their being arrested has not been clearly documented yet. The analysis of the way in which the two brothers were arrested and sentenced provides a clearer understanding of the mechanisms of repression in communist Romania, and also of the relation between the Communist Party and the Securitate.
