Abstract

Born from Ghica’s love of sciences and politics, the work Convorbirieconomice [Conversations on Economics], signed by that who was also President ofthe Romanian Academy proves to be more than meets the eye, turning into one ofthe most original literary works. The wager with literature, made during the yearsof maturity and of maximum synthesizing capacity, makes Ghica a representativeof the critical realism. The text of the `Conversations` goes beyond the canon of a scientific lecture and anticipates his `Letters` through the art of digression, the
picturesque of its descriptions and through its entertaining a minutely described interlocutor.
