SEDUCTION THROUGH ACCESS TO THE PERSON
A PRACTICE OF ATTRACTING THE AUDIENCE IN THE TEXT. THE DISCOURSE OF POPULARIZATION OF SCIENCE
Abstract
The text-discourse for the popularization of science is defined as a way of
translation, of "recontextualization" [Calsamiglia, 2003: 142] of a source text of
scientific origin, in order for it to be understood by a wide audience, defined as a
non-specialist audience. This mediation, from hermetic science to common language
science, is carried out by a mediator, the "third man" [Jacobi, 1985] - represented by
either the scientist or the journalist. In this context, an essential feature of the
discursive genre [Maingueneau, 2007: 69-74; Nagy, 2015: 165] in question is the
reader's attraction to the debated topic. A common practice that we find in the
multitude of science popularization discourses is the subjective approach of those
described, filtering the subject through a personal register by presenting the
scientific content according to one's own experience. This procedure, of course, is
