The Double Game Of The European Union In The Face Of The Migration Crisis
Abstract
Faced with a migration crisis on an unprecedented scale, the European Union (EU) was slow to react, as if it was minimizing the importance of the phenomenon. Under the pressure of European public opinion, which had become worried, the EU then decided to take measures to deal with this migration crisis. Officially, it was a question of limiting the extent of it. But we believe that the EU has not really changed its attitude: like Mrs Merkel, it remains in favor of welcoming migrants, whom it considers a godsend for remedying the demographic deficit of Germany and other European states.
