The Health and Social Protection System in Madagascar: What are the Challenges to Be Met?
Abstract
The national health system policy aims to define the various actions and means to be implemented to achieve its main objectives: the coverage universal access to health care services, the reduction of the financial barrier of access to care and increased use of public health services, in especially by the poor, and equity in social protection. The health care and social risk system covered by the health and social security system social protection in Madagascar are limited only to illnesses, families (children and maternity), occupational risks, old age and death. It does not cover the unemployment and disability risks. So, several challenges still need to be met to catch up with the success of the health and social protection systems of developed countries.
