Abstract

Agenda 21 is a plan for implementing the concept of Sustainable Development for the 21st Century, launched at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Romania as a signatory to the Convention in Rio de Janeiro, committed herself to take steps to apply this document, both nationally and locally. In Galati, a local sustainable development plan was created in order to apply the directives of the Convention in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Tools of Local Agenda 21 are Local Strategy for Sustainable Development, Local Action Plan, and Portfolio of Priority Projects. Throughout this paper, we analyzed only local issues of sustainable development strategy in Galati.
