Învățătură despre Sfânta Taină a Spovedaniei în scrierile Sfântului Ierarh Antim Ivireanul
Abstract
Saint Anthim the Iberian, Metropolitan of Wallachia, a great theologian and also promoter of Romanian language, was one of the greatest ecclesiastic figures of Romanian history. Although he was not Romanian, Metropolitan Anthim was loved and cherished by Romanian people who saw in him a real man of God. He sacrificed his entire life with patience for the spiritual growth of the Romanian people. He was an example himself! From the pulpit of the church which he served with so much love, Saint Anthim remained in our memory as the exemplary preacher who masterfully combined the teacher`s seriousness and the confessor`s sensitivity. He managed to spiritually strengthen the Romanian Orthodox harshly criticizing their moral decay and also advising them how to approach God through the holly mistery of confession. Taking into account the fact that he was convinced that the moral decay of the Romanian people was due to the lack of reading holy books, Saint Anthim wrote several books about straightening Christians, among which we mention: Didahiile, A briefly counsel about the mistery of repentance, Sermons etc. His counsels had Holy Scripture as a starting point, from which he chose the most beautiful texts which had to be neither difficult to understand nor monotonous.
