Sfântul Constantin cel Mare, o biografie completa
Abstract
The 4th Century AD was a century full of events that changed the destiny of Europe and of the whole world. One of the main historical personalities that deeply influenced this historical period was the Roman emperor Constantine the Great (306-337). The Emperor Constantine’s victories under the sign of the Cross made him assign that only the unique God of the Christians protected him and offered him help on the battlefield, and as a consequence, on the triumphal entry, following his victory against Maxentius, the emperor ignored the pagan sanctuaries raised to celebrate the victory. In 313, at Mediolanum, Constantine offered freedom of expression to the Christians, establishing the freedom of the Christian religion and its equality with the other religions. Another great event for the Christian history was the convocation of the First Ecumenical Council in Niceea in 325, a city in Asia Minor. For this empire, a Christian one, he established the capital at Constantinople, the new Rome. The Christian character of the new capital is given by the increased number of churches and monasteries that were built here. These three moments were crucial in the events that marked the history of the 4th Century, imposing Constantine the Great as one of the greatest personalities of the history.
