Abstract

The paper refers to a forgotten wonderworking icon of Virgin Mary, preserved in the church of Vlădeşti village, Galaţi county. According to accounts of contemporary witnesses, the icon wept in 1865, a fact that led the ecclesiastic authorities conduct an official investigation. The author includes this moment in a larger context, with references to the history of the village, of the local churches and the priests who served in Vlădeşti.
