To Kiss – as an Artistic Expression of Images from Nature in Traian Dorz's Poems

Abstract

Our paper aims at considering certain meanings of the verb „a săruta (to kiss)” in the lyrical work of a Romanian contemporary writer: Traian Dorz. Being the Author of thousands of mystical poems and of several volumes of memoirs or religious meditations, he manifested a constant interest Ón the symbols detachedfrom the canonical texts of the Bible, building on its meanings an original artistic vision, according to his own way of perceiving the message. Thus, in a series of poems dedicated to the communion between God and the soul searching for the absolute of immortality, „a săruta / to kiss” (key-term and reflection of a supernatural intimacy generated by a complex feeling) implies diverse avatars of the spirit, fully linked to the expressive configuration of some emblematic images from nature. Apart from highlighting its unquestionable role in creating the textual construction, we must underline the significance of the verb’s presences in sequences which reflect the sacralised touch of the Untouchable One, in a direct relation with the human being’s aspiration towards perfection.
