Journal Copyright Guide

This guide reflects JARDS's commitment to ethical standards in scientific publishing, ensuring transparency, integrity, and accountability in the editorial process.

Authorship and recognition of contributions

At JARDS, authors should include only their own original work in the materials submitted for publication. All co-authors are equally responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the submitted work. Authorship will be attributed only to those who have substantially contributed to the conception, design, and execution of the article. All authors must approve the final version of the article to be considered authors/co-authors.

Acknowledgement

Contributions such as data provision, translation of the work, technical editing, data collection, financial support, and providing research space will be clearly acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.

Responsibilities of the corresponding author

  • Ensuring that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article.
  • Informing the Editor-in-Chief of any significant changes to the manuscript, such as the inclusion or removal of an author, new content, or changes in the order of authors.
  • Ensuring that the article adheres to the template requirements and completing the Authors' Declaration on Publishing Ethics (click here to download).

Unacceptable practices

  • “Guest” authors who do not visibly contribute to the research or “ghost” authors.
  • Offering an article as a “gift” to individuals with weak affiliations or conflicts of interest.

Copyright and intellectual property

JARDS allows authors to retain their copyright, granting a publication license under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This applies to the PDF versions of articles published in English.

Authors’ rights

Retaining patent and trademark rights. Free use of research data without restrictions. Reuse of material without permission, provided the source is acknowledged. Distribution of scientific material for educational purposes and at conferences, with direct links provided to students and colleagues. Publishing the manuscript and the final version on any website or server, maintaining bibliographic identifiers.

Plagiarism prevention

JARDS uses specialized software to detect plagiarism. Manuscripts with a similarity index greater than 10% are automatically rejected. Authors must sign the Authors' Declaration on Publishing Ethics (click here to download), confirming that the work has not been previously published.

References and copyright

Citations must follow the journal’s citation style and include all relevant sources. Materials protected by copyright require written permission, with the source acknowledged.

Conflicts of interest

All authors must complete the Declaration on Publishing Ethics (click here to download), including details about conflicts of interest. This includes: Funding: Grants and sponsorships from funding agencies or organizations with potential financial interests. Employment: Current or recent affiliations that may influence the objectivity of the manuscript. Financial Interests: Stocks, consultancy fees, patents, or other remunerations. Non-Financial Interests: Professional, personal relationships, or personal beliefs.

Evaluation of conflicts of interest

Reviewers will treat authors with respect and evaluate the manuscript objectively, avoiding any form of discrimination. Reviewers will declare any conflicts of interest and will withdraw from evaluating manuscripts with evident conflicts of interest.

Availability of research data and reproducibility

Research data will be published in permanent data repositories, with a DOI identifier. Examples of repositories include: Mendeley Data, Figshare, Zenodo. JARDS will not host or manage research data.

Citing articles

Articles published by JARDS can be cited using any citation system accepted by the journal in which the citation will appear: APA Style, Harvard Style, MLA Style, Chicago Style, etc.

Oversight of research ethics

Responsibilities of the editorial committee:

  • Ensuring compliance with ethical standards, including for research involving human subjects and vulnerable populations.
  • Manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism and evaluated through the double-blind peer review process.

Confidentiality and integrity of the review process

Reviewers will maintain confidentiality and will not use information from the manuscripts for personal gain. Discussions and materials exchanged between authors, reviewers, and the editorial team are confidential.

Appeals and complaints

Appeal procedure

Authorship disputes will be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief will inform the involved parties and investigate the appeal.

Plagiarism detection

Suspicions of plagiarism are verified using the journal’s software and by reviewers. The corresponding author will be informed about the plagiarism suspicions and invited to provide explanations.

Plagiarism and self-plagiarism

The Editor-in-Chief can decide on rejecting the appeal, correcting minor errors, or retracting the article for major ethical violations.

Article retraction and post-publication corrections

Causes for retraction:

Major errors in research data, data fabrication/falsification, plagiarism, redundant publication, copyright violations, lack of consent in human subject research, compromising the peer review process, conflicts of interest, defamation, and other severe ethical issues.

Retraction procedure

Retracted articles will be marked on the JARDS website with the reasons for retraction. Redundant articles will be managed in collaboration with other journals, maintaining scientific integrity.

Errata and error correction

Errata will be published on the article's page and in the next issue of the journal to ensure the visibility of the corrected information.
